Project Access

NaviGator Builder uses a project-based access model that allows us to set custom access, budgets, and member roles for each workflow automation project. To create a new project in NaviGator Builder, we need the following information from you:

  • Existing NaviGator Toolkit Team, this is optional but you can request one here.
  • The name for the project or service
  • RSA stuff here !!!
  • UFIT Billing ID
  • Email address for the primary contact for the project
  • UF department or unit that the project should be associated with
  • List of Gatorlinks and their associated role — member or admin — that need access to the project
  • A maximum monthly budget to set for the entire project. We currently do not charge for this service but that could change in the future.
  • A list of AI models you would like enabled for the project (if any workflows will use NaviGator AI models)

Note: only UF faculty or staff can request project creation.

UFIT Hosting

To obtain a UFIT Billing ID, you have to become a UFIT hosting customer. Please follow the procedures located in the UF Hosting Sign Up page. You should also check with your finance department to see if you already have one.

Project Name

When creating your project we use your department, unit, college, and project to create a unique name. If you are a student group and would like a project created, we require departmental sponsorship.

Creating your Project

To finish creating your project, we will need the following:

  • list of Gatorlinks and their associated role — member or admin — that need access to the project
  • an estimated monthly recurring budget that the project can spend — if the estimated budget is over $1000/month of cloud model usage, we request that the project provides a justification for it
  • a list of the AI models the project would like to access from within workflows

Project Roles

  • Member: can login, view/create/edit/run workflows they own or that are shared with them, and view their own execution history. Cannot add new users to the project.
  • Admin: can add new members to the project, control project permissions, manage shared credentials, and perform all the actions of members.

Choosing Models

When choosing models, please think about the type of data your workflows will be processing. You can review the UF Data Classification Policy for more information. Each model available in the NaviGator AI suite has an approved data classification level — make sure any model you enable for the project is approved for the data your workflows will handle.

Budgets

The project budget allows you to leverage AI-powered workflows without worrying about costly calls driving your usage up unexpectedly. If adjustments are needed to the budget, please open a ticket with the UFIT Artificial Intelligence & Platform Engineering team.

Credentials

Workflows in NaviGator Builder often connect to external systems (databases, APIs, email, cloud services, etc.) using credentials. Credentials are stored encrypted and are scoped to the project. Project admins are responsible for managing which credentials are shared with project members.
